"....Ssshhhh!..." I whispered to Maggie as we crouched low in the car, surrounded by a sea of sighing grass as it swayed in the cool south wind of the late afternoon. The lionesses were huddled off to our right, but we knew he was out here....somewhere. The grass rustled, a twig snapped; stems began moving as something large and heavy slowly emerged...there he was, huge, gigantic, bigger than I could ever have imagined, ignoring us, his gaze focused on the females away down the slope. I had time to snap off one photograph........
